Agriculture and Food Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program

***Modified RFA to increase the indirect costs recovery in the FY 2012 budget. ***The purpose of AFRI is to support research, education, and extension work by awarding grants that address key problems of national, regional, and multi-state importance in sustaining all components of agriculture. AFRI supports work in six priority areas: plant health and production and plant products; animal health and production and animal products; food safety, nutrition, and health; renewable energy, natural resources, and environment; agriculture systems and technology; and agriculture economics and rural communities. In FY 2013, AFRI will support work in the six AFRI priority areas in a Foundational Program RFA to continue building a foundation of knowledge critical for solving current and future societal challenges. Additional RFAs further address AFRI priority areas in five societal challenge areas: Childhood Obesity Prevention; Climate Change; Food Safety; Global Food Security; and Sustainable Bioenergy. Funding opportunities for pre- and postdoctoral fellowship grants
