NIFA encourages applied research and development
in the area of occupational safety and health,
especially as it relates to production agriculture
and rural populations, through Hatch and
Small Business Innovation Research funding.
Another federal agency, National Institute
for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH),
provides leadership and a significant funding
base for occupational safety and health research.
NIFA staff interact with NIOSH occupational
safety and health research experts to keep
abreast of cutting-edge research and new
directions in this area.
