Agricultural Marketing
Outreach
Outreach and extension programs provide
a wide variety of opportunities for people
to learn about agricultural marketing. NIFA's
state partners develop these agricultural
marketing research, education, and extension
programs on a local level.
First, regional extension marketing committees
identify education needs and coordinate extension
efforts. Once a plan is outlined, delivery
methods vary from short market updates at
general extension meetings to intensive,
curriculum-based offerings that rival campus-based
courses. These courses include traditional
market and price outlook for livestock and
grains, preparing for international trade,
niche marketing, adding value, and managing
risk in transitioning markets.
Satellite, video, and commercial information
networks provide up-to-date information,
and extension programs often include a commercial
perspective.
