NERCRD, Northeast-SARE offer 2010 Sustainable Communities Innovation grants
The Northeast Regional Center for Rural Development (NERCRD) and Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (Northeast-SARE) are partnering again to offer their “Sustainable Communities Innovation Grants” for 2010. These grants intend to make a direct connection between community revitalization and farming.
Key issues to address in proposals include farm finance, marketing, land use, water use, enterprise development, and value-added product development, as well as others related to emerging rural development issues in USDA’s Northeast Region. Applicants must be affiliated with Cooperative Extension, NRCS, a municipality, a state department of agriculture, or other institutional entity.
Proposals are due November 24, 2009, for awards to be announced March 2010. For more information, visit the Northeast-SARE Web site, or contact Stephan Goetz, NERCRD director, or Sally Maggard, NIFA national program leader for Economic and Community Systems.
