4-H Youth Development
More than 6 million youth, ages 5-19, participate
in 4-H Youth Development experiences in all
50 U.S. states, its territories, and U.S.
Army installations worldwide.
4-H Youth Development is the largest non-formal
U.S. youth development program that ties
public and private resources to the single
purpose of supporting the positive and successful
development of youth. According to a 5-year
study by Tufts University, young people who participate
in 4-H do better in school and are more motivated
to help others. According to the study, these
young people develop skills in leadership,
public speaking, self-esteem, communication
and planning, and make lasting friendships.
The National
4-H Headquarters official Web site has
