Social Science Research Planning Workshop-Climate Change, Bioenergy, and Natural Resources
The NIFA Economic and Community Systems program area hosted a workshop entitled, "Social Science Research Planning: Climate Change, Bioenergy, and Natural Resources" in May 2010. A group of renowned scholars across multiple disciplines joined NIFA national program leaders to identify the role and unique contributions of social sciences to a systems approach and discuss effective strategies for NIFA to foster transdisciplinary collaboration.
The success of NIFA's programs requires effective integration of social sciences with other scientific work in order to advance knowledge in meeting societal challenges. As NIFA undertakes significant changes, ideas generated from this workshop will become more relevant and beneficial to achieving NIFA's vision and mission.
