Fourth International Conference on Environmental Management for Sustainable Universities

NIFA was a sponsor of the Fourth International Conference on Environmental Management for Sustainable Universities (EMSU), titled “Transforming Ideas into Action: Building Sustainable Communities Beyond University Campuses.” The conference, hosted by the Global Environmental Management Education Center, was held at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's College of Natural Resources from June 26-30, 2006.

Participants built upon the work of earlier EMSU conferences by focusing on transforming ideas into action and building sustainable communities beyond university campuses. The conference was targeted for a broad audience from university, business, government, and non-government organizations. Conference themes included:

  • informing local smart growth decisions,
  • engaging business and industry commitment,
  • enhancing intercultural understanding in the neighborhood,
  • greening energy systems, and
  • introducing best environmental facilities management operations.
