Multistate Research Committees

NIFA works with a number of Multistate Research Committees on issues related to water:

Development and Evaluation of TMDL Planning and Assessment Tools and Processes, S-1004: This multistate project will develop and evaluate tools for assisting states with developing Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for surface waters of the states.
Micro-Irrigation: Management Practices to Sustain Water Quality and Agricultural Productivity, W-128: This multistate project aims to provide science-based irrigation technology to conserve water used for agriculture.
Water Conservation, Competition, and Quality in Western Irrigated Agriculture, W-190: This multistate project provides economic and policy science for water resource management in the western region.
Revegetation and Stabilization of Deteriorated and Altered Lands, WCC-021: Participants in this project provide interdisciplinary coordination of soils, plants, and water in rangeland ecosystems to improve landscapes affected by grazing and other land uses.
Integrated Water Quality Research and Extension Programs for the Western United States, WERA-205: This multistate project provides a forum for information sharing on the topic of water quality for the western region.
