NIFA Soil Science Program Priorities

Through a listening session and surveys of its members, funded by NIFA, the Soil Science Society of America assisted NIFA in identifying emerging issues that should be explored over the next 5 to 10 years. Bio-integrated soil science (ecology, microbiology, soil fertility, nutrient cycles related to anthropomorphic activity) emerged as the top priority area. This information will help NIFA make funding and programmatic decisions for soils programs in research, education, and extension.
