The Agriculture and Food Research Initiative Foundational Program includes the Critical Agricultural Research and Extension (CARE) program. CARE is designed to support research and extension efforts that quickly yield rapid solutions for critical problems that impede the efficient production of agriculturally-important plants and animals, for producing safe and nutritious foods, and to meet environmental challenges for agriculture. The program requires a Letter of Intent — due May 24, 2017 — after which applications are due August 9, 2017. Approximately $3 million will be available to fund non-renewable grants up to $300,000.
