NIFA’s Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI), Animal Breeding, Genetics, and Genomics (AFRI A1201) supports research on development of novel quantitative genetic methods, development of national and regional breeding strategies, development of new phenotypes for improving selection criteria and/or development of high-throughput methods for on-farm recording of traits, and development of alternatives to control inbreeding. This NIFA program supports research that can be basic, applied, or both.
