In the 2024 funding cycle of the Diseases of Agricultural Animals program area priority within the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative’s Foundational and Applied Science program area, awards focused on maintaining healthy agricultural animals to ensure a safe and adequate food supply by supporting research in:
- cellular, molecular, genetic/genomic and/or whole-animal aspects of animal health and disease including disease prevention and control
- development of therapeutics
- production of immune reagents for agricultural animals
In addition, 13 of these awards are focused on minimizing the risk and spread of High Pathogenic Avian Influenza in the United States and awarded in partnership with the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
