NIFA Invests $5M in NSF Collaboration to Increase Food and Nutrition Security

NIFA is collaborating with the National Science Foundation's Convergence Accelerator program in contributing $5 million to fund a Phase II award in the program's Track J: Food and Nutrition Security area, which aims to address intertwined challenges in supporting population health, combating climate change, and addressing the nutritional needs of the most vulnerable.

The NIFA-funded award — being made to the University of California San Francisco — will support the development of an artificial intelligence-powered tool called NOURISH that will empower small businesses in food deserts to tailor fresh food products to local preferences for taste, convenience and affordability.
