NIFA Invests $8M in Biorefining and Biomanufacturing (A1531)

Biorefining is the process of using biomass to produce chemicals that are then converted to other bioproducts. Biorefining is also the use of biological systems or biocatalysts to convert biomass or waste streams into usable chemicals and bioproducts. Biomanufacturing is the use of converted biomass into useable products. The program supports the USDA and National Research Priorities to create a sustainable bioeconomy and reach bold goals for U.S. biotechnology and biomanufacturing.
