Briana Burke

Biological Science Specialist
Briana Burke is a Biological Program Specialist for the Institute of Food Safety and Nutrition’s Division of Food Safety. As a Program Specialist, Burke facilitates the scientific peer review process of grant applications submitted to NIFA.

Prior to joining the NIFA family, Burke was a Food Safety Extension Associate for the Louisiana State University (LSU) AgCenter. As a Food Safety Extension Associate, Burke developed produce food safety extension activities and educational materials, such as facts sheets and food safety training courses, related to the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule.

Burke is also a former Pathways Intern. She completed two internships with the USDA-Food Safety and Inspection Service and one internship with the USDA-Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.

Burke has a M.S. in Food Safety from Michigan State University, and an undergraduate degree in Animal Science from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
