Dr. Bisoondat "Mac" Macoon is a National Program Leader in the Institute of Food Production and Sustainability, Division of Plant Systems - Production. Before joining NIFA, Mac was on the faculty at Mississippi State University from 2001 to 2021. He had a 100% research appointment and was based at an off-campus cattle research station. As is typical of faculty at remote experiment stations, Mac was heavily involved in extension activities and interaction with producers. His research focused on grazing management and environmental stewardship in pasture systems, agronomic evaluation of crops for biofuel feedstocks, and use of cool-season annuals as cover crops in perennial summer pastures. Additionally, Mac has served extensively on editorial boards as both associate and technical editor of Agronomy Journal and Crop Science, and as an ad hoc reviewer for numerous national and international journals.
