Keesha Corbin

Program Specialist

Keesha Corbin joined USDA National Institute for Food and Agriculture’s Division of Youth and 4-H  from the Medical University of South Carolina's South Carolina Clinical and Translational Research Institute (SCTR), where she served as the Community Engagement and Special Populations Program Coordinator. Keesha worked with Program Directors to offer consultations to investigators around building community partnerships, conducting Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), study design, and qualitative methods. Keesha also worked to assist early-stage investigators in assembling and leveraging Participant Engagement Groups to inform research procedures. Ms. Corbin also managed SCTR's Community Engaged Scholars Program (CES-P), a 5-weeks of didactic training in CBPR and associated topics to teams consisting of academic and community partners. 
 
Ms. Corbin, previously worked with a non-profit agency to implement a program, funded by The Duke Endowment, aimed to assess children involved with the Child Welfare System for trauma and connect them with adequate treatment. Through the implementation of this program, Keesha worked with several community stakeholders, including Behavioral Health Centers, Managed Health Organizations, and the Department of Social Services. Keesha earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology, minoring in Biology from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and a master's degree in Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. With a background in psychology and biology, Keesha Corbin worked extensively in Regenerative Medicine at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine prior to beginning her work in Public Health with Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Here, she coauthored a systematic review on the co-occurrence of frailty and depression in the elderly.
