Dr. Mahroof is the National Program Leader at the Division of Community and Education. Before joining the NIFA, Dr. Mahroof served as a Professor and Chair at South Carolina State University. Rizana’s areas of expertise is in stored products entomology focusing research on non-chemical pest management and minimizing postharvest losses from farm to folk. Rizana has worked extensively in USAID-funded Feed the Future program mainly in Ethiopia and many other countries. Dr. Mahroof graduated with a Ph.D. in Entomology from Kansas State University, an M.Phil. in Forest Entomology from the University of Edinburgh, UK, and a B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Dr. Mahroof is a member of the Entomological Society of America, a Senior Fulbright Fellow, and received the South Carolina Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Field of Scientific Research in 2018.
