Over 80% of people in the United States live in cities, making effective urban extension programs an essential element of cooperative extension's work. New and innovative programs that benefit people who live in cities also benefit cooperative extension as a system, by engaging the highly diverse residents of urban areas as staff members, collaborators and program participants, and by creating opportunities for community-informed research and innovation. This webinar will explore programs that have been offered in New York City, the largest U.S. metropolitan area, by Cornell University Cooperative Extension since its founding in 1959. Programs address nutrition and parenting education, new farmer development, food systems, 4-H youth development, and more.
