SEMINAR OVERVIEW
Formative research is an integral first step in developing educational programs that will lead to the desired behavior change. We will describe how we are using the results of various types of qualitative and quantitative research to assess which educational messages are needed. We will describe the progression from focus groups to large-scale surveys, small-scale surveys, observational studies, controlled laboratory experiments, and microbiological assessments. Educational programming that has been and is being developed to address the messages and simple, yet powerful, techniques that may result in consumer behavior change will be shared with participants in this seminar.
