Dr. Lewis serves as Acting Director and is a National Program Leader in the Division of Family and Consumer Sciences within the Institute of Youth, Family, and Community. He has also served as a National Program Leader in the Division of Community and Education as well as the Center for International Programs. Prior to joining NIFA, Dr. Lewis worked 11 years for USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) where he focused on international trade policy and international agricultural development. He also spent three years as a Branch Chief for the Grants and Agreement Division within USDA’s Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC) - Business Center. Prior to joining USDA, Dr. Lewis worked as an Extension Agent and County Office Director for Virginia Cooperative Extension. He holds a Ph.D. in Career and Technical Education (concentration in Extension Education) and a M.S. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from Virginia Tech. He earned a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from Southern University and A&M College.
