In addition to appropriating funds to government agencies, Congressional legislation mandates reforms and calls for program changes and other actions that focus on advancement of national priorities.
NIFA oversees the implementation of agency-related administrative actions required by the Farm Bill, the Agricultural Appropriations Bill, and other legislation. After enactment of agricultural-related legislation, NIFA establishes teams composed of experts from agency mission areas and programs. The team implements ways to put new legislative provisions in place and make mandated reforms to existing programs.
