The General Services Administration (GSA)/System for Award Management (SAM) is experiencing delays processing certain private entity registration information for new registrants, updates to existing entity registrations and annual renewals. If you are not able to upload your application in Grants.gov prior to the funding opportunity close date because of issues related to these delays and are still awaiting a response to your pending SAM.gov help desk ticket, then USDA/NIFA will accept your application through the following process. Please note, this process is only valid for the issues noted above and is a one-time occurrence. Additionally, please allow sufficient time for your SAM.gov issue to be resolved prior to using the alternate submission process. Read more
The primary goal of the From Learning to Leading: Cultivating the Next Generation of Diverse Food and Agriculture Professionals Program (NEXTGEN) is to enable 1890 institutions, 1994 institutions, Alaska Native-serving institutions and Native Hawaiian-serving institutions, Hispanic-serving institutions and insular area institutions of higher education located in the U.S. territories to build and sustain the next generation of the food, agriculture, natural resources, and human sciences (FANH) workforce including the future USDA workforce primarily through providing student scholarship support, meaningful paid internships, fellowships, and job opportunity matching, and also facilitating opportunities to learn the processes and pathways leading to training and employment in the federal sector.
NEXTGEN Proposal Development Technical Assistance: NIFA has entered into an agreement with The Extension Foundation to provide Technical Service for this opportunity. Applicants do not need to be members of Extension Foundation to access these resources located at https://nextgen.extension.org/.

American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, Section 1006(b)(4)(A-E), as amended by Section 22007 of the Inflation Reduction Act (Pub.L 117-169), defines eligible applicants as 1890 land-grant institutions, 1994 land-grant institutions, Alaska Native serving institutions and Native Hawaiian serving institutions, Hispanic-serving institutions [specifically, the certified Hispanic-serving agricultural colleges and universities (HSACUs)], and insular area institutions of higher education located in the U.S. territories.
