Conferences and Workshops
The National Extension and Research Administrative Officers’ Conference (NERAOC) is NIFA’s primary venue for training on all aspects of grants management. NERAOC offers extension and research professionals an opportunity to share information on a range of topics including budget, finance, grants management, human resource management, civil rights, and diversity.
The Office of Grants and Financial Management (OGFM) is invited to participate in the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) conference every year. In 2015, OGFM presented at the regional Spring conference and the annual national conference. The Spring Regional conference was held in Region IV, the mid-America section of the NCURA, and it includes research administrators in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
The NCURA National, Annual (Summer) conference was held August 2015 in Washington DC, at the Washington Hilton Hotel. USDA-NIFA provided a session to the membership with a NIFA Update regarding NIFA’s competitive grant programs, policy updates, post-award oversight, emerging grants management topics.
NCURA is committed to advancing the field of research administration through education and professional development programs, the sharing of knowledge and experience, and by fostering a professional, collegial, and respected community. The Office of Grants and Financial Management (OGFM) is invited every year to participate in a series of Regional Administrative Officers Conferences hosted by our external stakeholders. In 2015, OGFM, OIT and PARS presented via webinar to the North Central (NC) Regional Conference held October 5–7, 2015, located at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. OGFM, OIT and PARS also presented at the Southern Regional Conference located in Tennessee via webinar on October 16th 2015 and the North East Management Officers (NEMO) Meeting in Washington, DC on October 19th 2015. These meetings includes best practices in higher education as well as unique collaborations, projects, initiatives, and partnerships. USDA-NIFA provided a session to each of the memberships with a NIFA Update regarding NIFA’s capacity/competitive grant programs, Farm Bill/ Budget, policy updates, Grants Modernization implementation, ReePort/POW, Leadership Management Dashboard and other emerging grants management related topics.
