Overview
The Children, Youth and Families at Risk Professional Development and Technical Assistance Program (CYFAR-PDTA) partners with universities to build connections, competency, and capacity to help communities develop and sustain holistic programs for at-risk children, youth, and families.
CYFAR-PDTA as one anticipated awardee, provides for professional development and technical assistance to CYFAR Sustainable Community Projects (SCP) to ensure continued development and implementation of the CYFAR SCP Program. The professional development and technical assistance will be provided to the successful CYFAR SCP grant awardee sites.
CYFAR-PDTA, collaboratively through the Extension system, will provide the components of programming, evaluation, technology, and technical assistance.
The CYFAR PDTA Program has three strategic objectives:
- To support community educational programs for audiences placed at risk who are low-income children, youth, and families which are based on locally identified needs, grounded in research, and which lead to the accomplishment of one of four CYFAR National Outcomes.
- To integrate CYFAR programming into ongoing Extension programs for children, youth, and families – ensuring that audiences who are exposed to greater challenges and are low-income children, youth, and families continue to be part of Extension and/or 4-H programs, and/or Family and Consumer Science Programs and have access to resources and educational opportunities.
- To support the CYFAR SCP Projects through professional development, technical assistance and evaluation through the life of each CYFAR SCP Project.
