Overview
The Federally Recognized Tribes Extension Program (FRTEP) establishes an extension presence and supports Extension outreach on Federally Recognized Indian Reservations and Tribal jurisdictions of Federally Recognized Tribes. FRTEP seeks to continue the Land-grant mission of providing education and research-based knowledge to those who might not otherwise receive it. The program provides funding for Extension programs that address the unique needs of Tribal communities.
FRTEP supports the development and delivery of informal education and outreach activities, aiming to improve the quality of life and economic well-being of individuals and families on Tribal lands. Examples of extension outreach activities include but are not limited to: youth development programs, including 4-H for Tribal youth; farm and ranch productivity and management; management of natural resources; economic and workforce development; and human health and well-being.
Eligibility
Applications may be submitted by 1862, 1890, and 1994 Land-grant Colleges and Universities.
