Research Facilities Act Program is designed to assist in the construction, alteration, acquisition, modernization, renovation, or remodeling of an agricultural research facility to enhance the institution’s long-term impact on food and agricultural research.
Overview
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is in the process of establishing the new Research Facilities Act Program (RFAP) competitive grant program.
The RFAP is designed to assist in the construction, alteration, acquisition, modernization, renovation, or remodeling of an agricultural research facility to enhance the institution’s long-term impact on food and agricultural research. Priority may be placed on projects that are located at or primarily benefit minority-serving institutions (MSI).
Authorization
7 USC Section 390 et seq. of the FY2023 Omnibus Appropriations Bill provided $2,000,000 to NIFA to support the construction, alteration, acquisition, modernization, renovation, or remodeling of an agricultural research facility.
Stakeholder Input
Stakeholders, customers, and partners can provide input on the development of Research Facilities Act Program Request for Applications by:
- Participating in a virtual stakeholder listening session on April 13, from 3 – 5 p.m. EST; and
- Submitting written comments (two-page limit) to: REE.NIFA.RFAP@usda.gov by April 17 at 5 p.m. EST.
NIFA will use this information to guide the development of Research Facilities Act Program Request for Applications.
