The Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program (GusNIP) brings together stakeholders from various parts of the food and healthcare systems.  The competitive grant program portfolio includes nutrition incentive projects, produce prescription projects, and training, technical assistance, evaluation, and information centers which provide support services to both nutrition incentive and produce prescription projects.  Nutrition incentive projects aim to increase the purchase of fruits and vegetables by low-income consumers participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by providing incentives at the point of purchase.  Produce prescription projects aim to increase procurement and consumption of fruits and vegetables, reduce individual and household food insecurity, and reduce healthcare usage and associated costs.

National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), U.S. Department of Agriculture will host a webinar to listen to stakeholder feedback regarding all aspects of the Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program (GusNIP).  The 2018 Farm Bill authorized the program for fiscal years 2019 through 2023 with a growth in program funding from $45 million to $56 million to be appropriated over the 5 years.
