Impacting Michigan's Economic Development

Michigan State University (MSU) hosts the North Central Regional Rural Development Center. In 2016, the North Central Region’s Extension Community Development Programs reported an impact of over $122 million and 14,344 jobs created or saved across the 12 state region. As a result of MSU Extension’s work within its own state, 957 jobs were created or retained, 386 new business plans were developed, and 64 new businesses were created.
