The Nutrition and Health Committee for Planning and Guidance, formed in 2008, works with NIFA national program leaders (NPL) to strategically position extension programs for the future. Committee members represent all regions of the country and are from the 1862 and 1890 land-grant institutions.

The committee's work is focused on five key activities:
- Evaluation indicators
- Social media and emerging technologies
- Nutrition and physical activity policies and programs
- Professional training
- External partner communication and engagement
The committee is a resource and voice for NPLs to invite new members, solicit ideas, and seek support for committee activities.
