Division of Family & Consumer Sciences
NIFA’s Family & Consumer Sciences programs provide resources that advance community vitality and family well-being in partnership with the Land-Grant University System and Cooperative Extension System. The objectives of this work are to contribute to advancing the socio-economic potential of communities, and the empowerment of people to achieve optimal well-being.
Family & Consumer Sciences strengthen families, farms, communities, and the economy by focusing on the human dimensions of food and agriculture. This is accomplished through scientific research and its application; strategic partnerships; extension education; and supporting ongoing efforts to promote FCS educator preparation.
