Programs

NIFA programs are the mechanism by which we pursue our mission to invest in and advance agricultural research, education, and extension to solve societal challenges. Some programs administer funding and offer leadership while others focus on national leadership and collaboration. For more information on a particular program, use the site’s search tool.

Animal Reproduction

NIFA provides funding for basic and applied research in animal reproduction, and supports extension and education programs that transfer new science-based knowledge to the field and classroom.

Animal Well-Being

The Animal Well-being program funds research, education, and extension projects that develop the scientific evidence to promote the balance between production systems, management practices, welfare indicators, and the behavioral and physiological well-being of agricultural animals.

Nutrition Programs

A healthy, nourished population depends on strong research and education programs in human nutrition. NIFA partners with the Cooperative Extension System to deliver community-based nutrition education programs. NIFA also sponsors nutrition-related research. NIFA Nutrition Programs provide policymakers with the knowledge to make appropriate policies for our citizens.

Financial Capability

Too many people experience financial crisis because of inadequate savings, too much debt, and poor planning. The overall goal of financial capability is for people to acquire the knowledge, skills, and motivation to build financial security.
