Republic of Georgia Agricultural Quality Improvement Project, 2002-2005
This project focused on the identification of constraints in the production, processing and marketing supply cycle, and in the application of technical, educational, and financial solutions to these challenges. Supported with funding from the Freedom Support Act, AQIP worked in partnership with Georgian counterparts in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food as well as with others to identify markets for Georgian value-added products, and then to work through the market chain to help mitigate critical constraints.
The project addressed the needs of this country in the following areas:
- Meat and dairy quality improvement.
- Regional economic development.
- Agrarian education.
- Sustainable agriculture production.
- Agroforestry improvements.
