Alexandra Alford is a Program Specialist in the Division of Nutrition, Institute of Food Safety and Nutrition. Alexandra began working with NIFA as an 1890 National Scholar, which allowed her to gain experience with the Institute of Youth, Family, and Community and the Institute of Food Safety and Nutrition. In addition, Alexandra had experience working with the University of Maryland Extension and the University of Tennessee Extension. At the University of Maryland Extension, Alexandra supported programs for the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program coordinator. At the University of Tennessee Extension, Alexandra was a Family and Consumer Sciences Intern at the county level and a 4-H Youth Development Intern at the state level. She also worked with under the Farmers’ Market Fresh program at the University of Tennessee Extension.
Alexandra completed her Bachelor of Science in Human Ecology, with a concentration in Dietetics and a chemistry minor at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. She then attended the University of Tennessee to earn her Master of Science with an emphasis in Public Health Nutrition and her Master of Public Health with an emphasis in Community Health Education. Alexandra completed her dietetic internship at the University of Tennessee as well.
