Timothy Sullivan, Ph.D.

National Program Leader
Dr. Tim Sullivan is a National Program Leader of Animal Production Systems at the National Institute of Food and Agriculture where he provides leadership for programs in aquaculture, animal health, and biotechnology. Before joining NIFA, Tim was a fishery research scientist at the Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute where he developed CRISPR-based aquatic disease diagnostics supported by NIFA’s Exploratory Research program. He obtained a B.S. in Biology from the College of Wooster, and then studied genetics, genomics, marine and freshwater biology, and animal health while obtaining a M.S. degree in Biology from the University of Toledo and a Ph.D. in Environmental and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He then worked to identify genome regions related to learning ability as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Arkansas.
