NIFA Invests $23 Million to Improve Human Health Through Food (AFRI A1343)

The Food and Human Health (A1343) program area priority within NIFA’s Agriculture and Food Research Initiative supports projects that investigate the interrelationships of foods, or components of foods, and their impact on the gut microbiota to improve human health. The results from these projects should inform precision nutrition or personalized dietary needs, particularly for historically underrepresented populations. Project results should also complement our nation’s dietary pattern recommendations to prevent, reduce or control chronic diseases.
