The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) equal opportunity staff provides this civil rights webinar covering the Age Discrimination Act of 1975 as well as language access efforts at land-grant university, University of Wisconsin-Madison. In this webinar, Jessica Creighton, Acting Director of Equal Opportunity and Civil Rights at NIFA, gives an overview of the language of the act, requirements of the act, permissible use of age distinctions, and best practices related to the law. Dr. Dominic Ledesma, Chief Diversity Officer at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension, shares language access efforts at the university’s extension. In particular, Dr. Ledesma provides insight into language access plan development as well as providing centralized support for language access needs.
