“Steve” Shoushan Zeng

Deputy Director (Acting)

Steve serves as the Acting Deputy Director For the Institute of Food Safety and Nutrition. In this role he provides leadership in supporting food safety research, education, and outreach at land-grant institutions and other organizations across the nation through competitive grant programs. He also seeks to strengthen communication, networking, and interaction among food safety professionals, partners, and stakeholders.

Steve came to USDA-NIFA after he worked as Extension Food Technologist, Professor, Department Head at Langston University and as Food Scientist and R&D Manager in the cheese industry for twenty plus years. Steve received his B.S. in Animal Science at Jiangxi Agricultural University (China), M.S in Dairy Food at Mississippi State University, and Ph.D. in Food Technology at Clemson University.
