NIFA-APHIS Program Priorities Informational Webinar 

USDA NIFA held an informational webinar regarding augmented program area priorities for the following Agriculture and Food Research Initiative programs: 

• Agricultural Biosecurity (A1181) 
• Diseases of Agricultural Animals (A1221) 
• Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases (A1222) 
• Interdisciplinary Engagement in Animal Systems (A1261)  
   

The A1181, A1221 and A1261 program area priorities are funded through the AFRI Foundational and Applied Science Request for Applications.  

NIFA and the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) have recently agreed to collaborate in these programs, enabling APHIS to provide funding support for research projects in line with APHIS priorities surrounding SARS-CoV-2.  

The webinar provided details of this funding support — and its associated priorities — alongside the existing NIFA priorities for each of the AFRI program areas.
