This month’s edition on Tuesday, April 26th at 3:30 to 5:00 pm ET will first provide an overview of the Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program (GusNIP). This program provides funding opportunities to conduct and evaluate projects providing incentives to income-eligible consumers to increase the purchase and procurement of fruits and vegetables. GusNIP was designed to bring together stakeholders from various parts of the food and healthcare systems to help foster understanding to improve the health and nutrition status of participating individuals and households, facilitate growth in geographies with low participation, as well as collect and aggregate data to identify best practices and improve GusNIP projects on a broad scale. The Gretchen Swanson Center for Nutrition oversees the evaluation of GusNIP as the lead of the Nutrition Incentive Program Training, Technical Assistance, Evaluation, and Information (NTAE) Center in partnership with Fair Food Network who oversees technical assistance and innovation. These organizations will provide an overview of the GusNIP NTAE Center and Nutrition Incentive Hub, describe research and evaluation and technical assistance and innovation, highlight produce prescription and nutrition incentive projects and outcome data, and discuss future plans. Both NIFA and NTAE panelists will have breakout rooms in the last section of the webinar where people may dive deeper into some case studies and engage in discussions.
